Cody Rhodes has said that a fellow WWE star working shows ‘lightens things’ for him in case he ‘blows it’ in the main event.
Over the past few years, IYO SKY has ascended to the top of the WWE women’s division, with many people both within the company and fans watching at home naming her as the best wrestler in the promotion regardless of gender.
There have been many WWE premium live events where IYO’s match has ended up being the most talked about and highest rated match of the night, and Cody Rhodes himself has now spoken about her involvement.
Cody Rhodes Says IYO SKY ‘Lightens Things’ For Him
Speaking on What Do You Wanna Talk About?, Cody praised IYO, noting that he feels thankful when he sees her on the card for a show, as it ‘lightens things’ for him.
He said:
“Any time IYO is in the ring.
“There are cards we have that I’ll look and be very thankful for some of the names, and IYO’s one of them. In a way, it lightens things. ‘Alright, if I blow it, they’re gonna be fine, IYO’s going out there and putting in a shift already, she’s killed it’.”

Is IYO SKY The Next Women’s World Champion?
After winning the 2026 Queen of the Ring Tournament at Night of Champions, IYO SKY is set for a rematch with Liv Morgan for the Women’s World Championship at SummerSlam in August.
Liv was cursed by Danhausen prior to their Queen of the Ring final, leading to her defeat, and with Liv continuing to insist that she is not cursed, it is beginning to look as though Liv may also lose at SummerSlam thanks to some Judgment Day shenanigans.
Liv has yet to defend the Women’s World Championship on television since winning it at WrestleMania 42, with her title reign failing to really deliver any memorable moments, which is due to how she has been booked since winning the gold.
With the Raw women’s division currently at a low point from an in-ring perspective, putting the title back on IYO and giving her defences against Lyra Valkyria, Liv Morgan, Stephanie Vaquer and others would be a good way to restore the division.
