Current AEW Star Files CM Punk-Related Trademark AEW

A current All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star has filed a trademark related to CM Punk, who was recently fired by the company.

Punk was “terminated with cause” from AEW on September 2 following an investigation into an incident backstage at AEW All In at Wembley Stadium.

It’s now emerged that David Harwood, the real name of AEW’s Dax Harwood, has filed a trademark for the term “CMFTR”.

CMFTR is of course a version of the name used by the trio of CM Punk and FTR (Harwood and Cash Wheeler).

The group formed a strong friendship and regularly teamed together during Punk’s time in AEW.

The filing was made with the following description:

Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, live appearances by a professional wrestlers and sports entertainers; Entertainment services, namely, personal appearances by a professional wrestlers and sports entertainers; Entertainment services, namely, televised appearances by a professional wrestlers and sports entertainers; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; Providing online interviews featuring professional wrestlers and sports entertainers in the field of professional wrestling and sports entertainment for entertainment purposes

There has been no clear word on Punk’s future in wrestling, other than him teasing in mid-September that he had “some time on his hands for a couple of months”.

There’s no confirmation on exactly what he meant, but if it was in reference to a non-compete clause or something of that nature, the timing would line up that he’d be available for Survivor Series in his hometown of Chicago, which is what many fans have jumped on as a big point of speculation.

As of this point, there’s been no word on whether Punk joining WWE is a possibility past all this speculation and ultimately guesswork.

If anything does emerge, we’ll keep you posted as always.
