In an exclusive interview with WrestleTalk’s Louis Dangoor from earlier this week, Darby Allin opened up about winning the TNT Championship at Full Gear, and when he found out he’d be defeating Cody.
Allin noted that he found out the day before the show, as AEW was taking new photos for talent and he was asked to take a photo with the TNT Championship, which belonged to Cody at the time:
Allin: “That was a huge moment there. I just didn’t ask if I was winning or not all week.”
Dangoor: “Did you have a feeling?”
Allin: “Yeah, but at the same time with wrestling you never know. You never know what to expect.”
Dangoor: “So when did you find out?”
Allin: “I would say probably the day before. Yeah it was the day before, because we were taking photos and stuff like that, and I had to get my championship photo.”
During the interview, Darby noted that while his title win would have been better with a crowd, like many other moments this year, he has still enjoyed seeing the support from fans online:
“With everybody with this year, with the debuts and the historical matches. The fact there were no fans, of course that’s disappointing, but at the end of the day, you’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do, and I know there’s a lot of people watching at home. The fans support online is just as strong.
