Details On Bret Hart WWE Deal & How It Affects Potential AEW Appearance WWE

Details have reportedly emerged on Bret Hart’s new WWE deal, and how it would affect a potential AEW appearance.

Following multiple hints that Hart was AEW-bound, a recent report revealed that those within AEW were under the impression that Hart had signed a new contract with WWE.

Per Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Hart has signed a merchandising deal with WWE. While it was noted that it is unclear where Hart can legally appear with this specific contract, AEW had been working under the belief that the wrestling legend was not legally available to them.

Meltzer wrote:

Bret Hart said that his only deal with WWE is a merchandising deal and not any other deal. AEW was under the impression he could not appear for them due to his deal with WWE. We don’t have it clear whether Hart could legally appear on an AEW broadcast or not, past AEW believed he was not legally available to them.

It would make sense for him to be in Las Vegas for the Owen Hart tournament finals, but as we noted, as of last week it didn’t appear that was going to be the case. Dr. Martha Hart obviously can and will be at that show

On Wednesday’s edition of Dynamite, Dax Harwood pinned Cash Wheeler to qualify for the men’s Owen Hart Cup Tournament. both the men’s and women’s tournaments will conclude at Double or Nothing on May 29.

Bret Hart is set to manage FTR at an upcoming indy event, which you can read more about right here.
