Dolph Ziggler (Nic Nemeth) WrestleMania Weekend Plans Revealed WWE

Here’s what Nic Nemeth fka Dolph Ziggler will be doing during his first WrestleMania season away from WWE following his release.

Nemeth was released by WWE during the September 2023 round of cuts.

The popular star has achieved success since then, recently winning the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship during his NJPW debut, his first title since leaving WWE.

NJPW has announced Nemeth’s first title defence, with Nemeth set to put his title on the line against wrestling veteran and NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi.

This match will take place at Sakura Genesis on April 6, the same date as the first night of WrestleMania 40.

Despite both shows taking place on the same day, the shows won’t clash due to the time difference between the US and Japan.

NJPW shared the following preview for the match:

Also confirmed for Sakura Genesis, the IWGP Global Championship will be on the line when Nic Nemeth defends for the first time against Hiroshi Tanahashi.

In the wake of his debut victory over David Finlay to snatch the white and gold on his first night in NJPW, Nemeth appealed to the Ace to form a tag team the next night.

Thanks to an ankle sprain, that was not to be, but President Tanahashi is set to be back in full form in Ryogoku. In this battle of two perfectly matched classical pro-wrestlers, who leaves with the Global title?

NJPW also announced an IWGP World Heavyweight Title match for the event, with Tetsuya Naito to defend against the winner of the New Japan Cup tournament.

An AEW star who hasn’t wrestled in almost seven months has been announced for this tournament, which you can read more about right here.
