Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan have opened up about the nerves that they have experienced as WWE stars and how they navigate them.

During a recent appearance on JaackMaate’s Happy Hour podcast, Dominik Mysterio would be asked if he had ever felt nerves in WWE having been around the business since a young age.

This would lead to Liv Morgan opening up her own nerves, with her career starting in 2014, suggesting that she still feels them to this day.

Addressing his own situation, Mysterio would reveal he wasn’t a fan of the attention being on him, saying:

“I don’t think that’s necessarily fair to say. When I was a kid, I just didn’t understand it.”

Asked if he liked wrestling as a kid, Mysterio would confirm he did, just not necessarily the attention, stating:

“I hated it. Not wrestling, I loved wrestling. I loved watching it. I just didn’t enjoy the attention on me.”

The host would go on to ask how it feels now that he’s one of the biggest names in WWE, with Mysterio commenting:

“To me, it’s just another day of outshining my deadbeat Dad.”

As for Morgan, she would talk in more graphic details about the nerves she gets, saying:

“Oh yeah, I’ve had the nerves. Dominik’s seen me throw up before my matches; he’s seen me gag before my matches, spitting.”

Reflecting on what may be a contributing factor to the bilious reaction, Morgan would suggest her commitment to her craft, explaining:

“I think I just want to do a good job ultimately. I just wanna go out there and do my best. And I think the thought of not doing my best makes me nervous, and it gives me a little bit of anxiety.

“Also, there’s so much excitement in that; it’s not all bad. I just want to make sure I deliver.”

Morgan heads to SummerSlam on August 1 & 2, putting the WWE Women’s World Championship on the line against the winner of this year’s Queen of the Ring, IYO SKY.

Turning Nerves Into Steel

It’s fine to be nervous in many situations, especially when the purpose is to impress or a journey into the unknown. Too many opportunities fall by the wayside because of worry or fear, rarely to be revisited.

Conquering nerves was something that Morgan no doubt did when filmiing the music video for ‘Trouble’, commenting that she had never thought she would “do anything like that” and reflecting on the intensity of the process for what would be a 2m 35s end product.

Indeed, Morgan is taking her talents further, with a role in Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo, the Takashi Miike-directed movie set for release in September. The WWE star has opened up about the skills she’s learnt that she was able to take into the acting world.

With more crossover between WWE and mainstream media, opportunities exist for many stars to step beyond their comfort zone into new challenges, as long as they can master the nerves.
