In the run-up to WrestleMania 42, WWE unleashed a music video for ‘Trouble’ starring Liv Morgan, with the star commenting on the production.

Heading into WrestleMania 42 to challenge Stephanie Vaquer for the WWE Women’s World Championship, Liv Morgan would be victorious in the penultimate match of night one, only after a live dance performance during her new Trouble entrance theme.

The music video for ‘Trouble’ saw Morgan get up to mischief, busting moves, while singing about the type of person that she is, with the star previously commenting on the creative freedom she was given to bring the project to life.

During a recent interview with the The Early Bird Special, Morgan went into further detail on the whole process, saying:

“I went to a three-day, intensive pop star bootcamp to prepare for the music video shoot and to prepare for my live entrance for it. It was very iconic.

“Just choreography for hours a day every single day, rehearsals, wardrobe fittings, microphone fittings, how to work with the microphones.

“Tons of things I feel like, typically, someone would do getting ready for a live performance, you know. It felt very pop star. It felt very Britney Spears. It was iconic to live through. I never thought I’d do anything like that, but very much in a space and a season of just doing things, you know, just trying things.”

Morgan would also address her upcoming foray into the world of movies, with Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo due for release later this year, commenting on the skills she has learned in WWE that she has brought to the acting space.

With vocals by Morgan, ‘Trouble’ was produced by the long-term music partner of WWE, def rebel.

Play That Funky Music

WWE stars and music occasionally go hand in glove, with many stars over the decades exercising their vocal cords to entertain the fans.

R-Truth is a prime example of a current WWE star who has built a career in music, releasing tracks under his real name of Ron Killings, including one dropped after his return to the company in June of last year.

Beyond that, John Cena may be remembered for the ‘Basic Thuganomics’ or ‘The Time Is Now’ entrance themes, but also had a rap career of his own, releasing his debut album, ‘You Can’t See Me’, with his real-life cousin, The Trademarc. He would feature in two Wiz Khalifa songs in 2014 as part of the WWE 2K15 video game soundtrack. Add to that being a self-taught pianist, Cena would contribute an instrumental cover of ‘Home Sweet Home’ by Motley Crue to the Peacemaker TV series soundtrack.

On the subject of pianists, Tyler Bate occasionally showcases his skill with that instrument on his own Instagram, along with his talent for singing.  At some point, someone in WWE will decide that there’s a band or two to be made from the current roster.

It’s just not performing that sees wrestling stars step into the music world, with Lou Albano well remembered for his role in the video for Cyndi Lauper’s ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun’ and Hulk Hogan as Starlight Starbright in Dolly Parton’s ‘Headlock On My Heart’. Much more recently, Miles Kane’s ‘Cry on my Guitar’ featured Finn Balor in the music video for a track on the artist’s ‘Coup de Grace’ album.

WWE stars in music has, arguably, come a long way from the era of Slam Jam.
