A top WWE star is set to miss the April 7 edition of SmackDown due to a health issue.
At WrestleMania 39, Gunther defeated Sheamus and Drew McIntyre to retain the Intercontinental Championship.
This hard hitting bout came off the heels of recent reports on Drew McIntyre’s WWE contract set to expire some time this year.
Per F4WOnline, McIntyre has been pulled from tonight’s SmackDown as well as a meet and greet in Portland due to a health issue.
The issue has not been revealed nor has the timetable for his return. The meet and greet with McIntyre now has him replaced by Intercontinental Champion Gunther.
Tonight’s SmackDown will see Gunther team with Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci of Imperium to face The Brawling Brutes. Also, Sami Zayn will go one-on-one with Jey Uso and Rey Mysterio will team with Santos Escobar to face Judgment Day’s Dominik Mysterio and Damian Priest.
Meanwhile, WWE CCO Triple H will appear “to address the WWE Universe.”
We will have further updates on Drew McIntyre and tonight’s SmackDown when they become available.
