AEW Star Reveals Retirement Timeline

AEW Star Reveals Retirement Timeline AEW

AEW’s Dustin Rhodes has revealed that he has a plan for his retirement run, sharing an update on the timeline for his exit.

Dustin has emphasised on a number of occasions that he plans to retire with AEW.

The wrestling veteran spoke about the end of his career on Close Up w/ Renee Paquette, revealing that he does have a plan for his in-ring farewell.

Noting that he’s coming to terms with being at this stage of his career, Dustin said:

“Whenever the end is, it is kind of near but not too close and I’m just trying to come to grips with that.

“That’s hard because do we ever really retire in this business? We love it so much. As long as I still have the passion, I’m going to continue to do it.”

Believing that AEW will give him a send-off similar to Sting’s AEW Revolution 2024 retirement match, Rhodes noted that he believes he’ll wrestle for roughly two more years.

Acknowledging his previous uncertainty surrounding how much longer he plans to wrestle, while discussing his current expected timeline for retirement, Rhodes said:

That, I’ve thought up, I’ve thought in depth, and there’s a list of three guys. I’d rather not say them right now, I want to keep that close to my chest, but I do have a plan.

“It’s not soon, guys. I know I’ve said I have one more year sometimes in the past, and it always changes.

“Seriously, it’s not very close, but it is. I would say a couple of years, two and a half, maybe. I do have a plan of who I want to work, who I want to face, and I think Tony’s going to be okay with that.

“I think he’s going to give me the opportunity to go out like Sting did, and that is the most respect that I could ever feel. (I) feel the most love, the most passion from this company, and I feel it every single day.

“With all the tribalism out there about the other place and us and what’s good, what’s bad, whatever, they have no idea how hard we work and what goes on in the back.

“We’re our startup company, this is our sixth year, we are growing every single year, doing amazing, making huge amounts of money, and working all over the world. It is a place I want to be and finish my career.”
