Elias and Kevin Owens get toxic heat on Raw

The point of a good heel is that they’re able to generate heat from the crowd, and it’s fair to say that Elias and Kevin Owens managed that on Raw last night.

Owens accompanied Elias during his usual “this town smells” segment, but one comment seemed to really rile up the crowd more than any other.

Elias made reference to the fact that Seattle’s old basketball team, the Supersonics, left in 2008 to become the Oklahoma City Thunder, an issue that is quite clearly close to the hearts of the Seattle crowd.

Commenting on John Cena and Bobby Lashley’s tag partnership for Super ShowDown, Elias said:

“It doesn’t make sense. It’s like having a basketball team in Seattle.”

Owens and Elias had to shout into their microphones for the rest of their promo because they simply weren’t audible over the constant booing from the crowd.

You would hope that the officials backstage would be very happy with the reaction the two men got from the crowd, given than that is their jobs.

It was an utterly astonishing reaction, with the likes of Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline tweeting:

Hopefully WWE will finally start seeing Elias for the star that he clearly is. No-one else on the roster is even close to getting the weekly heat that he does.

Not even Roman.
