‘Everything Is Cold’ On WWE Prospect Gable Steveson

There was once a time when everything pointed towards Olympic Gold Medalist Gable Steveson being the next huge WWE star.

The key word there is “was”, because recent reports suggest his training is not going at all the way WWE would have hoped.

Writing in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted Steveson isn’t even being talked about in regards to a potential debut.

He wrote:

Everything is cold on Gable Steveson. His brother is doing great and they wanted to debut him some time ago, but it hasn’t happened because reviews on his training progress haven’t been good. They were going to fast track him after he finished his last season in March, but he hasn’t even been around or talked about.

His brother, who Meltzer mentioned in the report, is NXT star Damon Kemp, who has been getting rave reviews for his work in the promotion.

As an Olympic Gold Medalist, you would fully expect WWE to do everything in its power to make Gable a star, because there’s nothing WWE likes more than an American hero gimmick.
