Fan Outrage At WWE Matt Riddle Promo

Fans were made to feel rather uncomfortable last night at Payback when WWE had King Corbin seemingly make reference to Matt Riddle cheating on his wife as part of their ongoing feud.

Riddle recently admitted to cheating on his wife back in July. However, the person he cheated with had accused him of sexual assault in June as part of the #SpeakingOut movement. It is important to note that Riddle denies these allegations.

Prior to Payback last night, King Corbin took to Twitter to say the following to Matt Riddle, calling him a “failure at home”. While it wasn’t explicitly stated, many people have taken this to be a shot at Riddle for his cheating admission.

“Tonight, I prove that Matt Riddle is a failure in a WWE ring. By the way…he’s already proven that he’s a failure at home. #WWEPayback”

Riddle was then asked about Corbin’s tweet in a backstage promo by Alyse Ashton just before their match at Payback, which Riddle won after hitting the former United States Champion with a Floating Bro.

Unsurprisingly, many people have taken to social media to express their unhappiness at the fact that WWE creative decided to incorporate this very real situation into a storyline on television.

The outrage was likely exemplified by the fact that  WWE has been criticised for some of their decisions during the #SpeakingOut movement serious, with accusers of Velveteen Dream claiming that they weren’t contacted as part of the company’s investigation.
