
A new report has revealed a former WWE Champion is close to being set for the “Day 1” episode of WWE Raw on January 1, 2024.
The January 1, 2024 edition of WWE Raw has been entitled and promoted as the “Day 1” special.
The company has already announced a full lineup, including Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre for the World Heavyweight Championship. However, it now seems like WWE want to add a little bit more spice to their lineup for the special episode.
Fightful Select (subscription required) provided an update, noting that WWE sources claimed the company is “on the one yard line” in landing a former WWE. Champion to appear on the show. The company feel confident they can get the deal done.
The report notes that a specific name hasn’t been given as of yet, but were told it was someone not on their current roster.
The term “former WWE Champion” was used by those sources, and it was also noted that Fightful asked if the name was one that was active or a retired talent, but weren’t given an answer.
WrestleTalk will provide any further updates on the identity of the unnamed former WWE Champion when they become available.
