A pair of former multi-time champions have discussed the possibility of Sheamus joining AEW following his recent departure from WWE.

In a year that has seen notable WWE departures like The New Day (Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston), The Wyatt Sicks, Aleister Black, Kairi Sane and more, on June 5 it was confirmed that Sheamus had also departed the company after almost two full decades under contract.

With almost the entirety of Sheamus’ career spent in WWE, fans are excited to see what ‘The Celtic Warrior’ does next, with plenty of speculation regarding a potential move to AEW.

While it was recently reported that some in AEW “weren’t really thrilled” about the prospect of the 48-year-old coming into the company, two former WWE stars believe Tony Khan should consider bringing him

Speaking on TMZ Inside the Ring, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows discussed the high profile exits of Sheamus and New Day in recent months.

Tipping both acts to “make a splash” wherever they end up, Gallows said:

“The winds of change are blowing in the corporate landscape are they not? I also have to say too, I mean these are acts of our era for sure, but like The New Day, and I don’t know the ins and outs of how contracts are being restructured, I just know what I hear, but what an act they were for so long.

“And Sheamus, you feel there’s a lot left in that tank. So, it makes the wrestling market fun for us cause we say the one thing that’s always content is there’s always change, and you’ll feel those ripple effects across the business. So, wherever these guys show up it’s gonna be a splash somewhere.”

Anderson would then recall joking with Sheamus about how much money he has accrued over his storied career:

“Sheamus, I used to joke with him a lot, I go ‘Dude, how rich are you at this point.’ (impersonates Sheamus voice) ‘Quit f**king about.’

“Stephen Farrelly’s eating just fine, he’s not concerned with what’s next.”

While Anderson doesn’t think Sheamus should be too concerned bit his next steps, Gallows is confident that fans haven’t seen the last of the Irish star:

“But Stephen Farrelly loves being a pro wrestler, loves hearing a big reaction so we’ve not seen the last of Steven Farrelly.”

Later in the interview, Anderson would touch upon Sheamus’ future again, saying that he feels Tony Khan should look at booking him “immediately”:

“I don’t have any say whatsoever, but if I was writing for AEW I would book Sheamus immediately cause I think that he would go in there and have some awesome matches cuz he hits hard. He makes people angry because he hits so hard.”

Touching upon MJF’s recent comments about Sheamus on Instagram, Gallows expressed zero doubts that fans would pop if Sheamus debuted by hitting a Brogue Kick on MJF inside the ring:

“He’s not necessarily an AEW style wrestler (but) you see that MJF and him teased each other, if he pops out, the arena goes dark and the lights come on and he pump kicks his head off, people are gonna lose their s**t.”

TMZ host Brandon Quirke would then comment on how some fans believe Sheamus joining AEW would potentially be taking a spot from younger wrestlers, which led Anderson to reply:

“Does that mean you just have the young guys on every single segment and every single promo and just throw them out there and people don’t particularly know who they are?

“I know you got to have the equity to keep it going, but I think you’ve got to bring those other guys in.

“I’m a fan of bringing in Sheamus, I’m a fan of bringing in The New Day. You gotta have them.”

Unlike The New Day, who are currently serving their 90-day non-compete clauses from WWE, Sheamus’ departure came as a result of his contract expiring, so he is free to move to any promotion he chooses.
