An update has emerged on the futures of AEW’s Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler of FTR in Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, following their tag title loss.
Following reports that they were set to drop the gold, FTR were defeated by Dragon Lee & Dralistico for the AAA Tag Team Championship during the December 28 AAA Noche De Campeones event.
FTR had held the gold for 438 days after winning the title from the Lucha Brothers in October 2021 on AEW Dynamite.
Per Fightful Select (subscription required), FTR is done with AAA for now, and don’t have any more dates with the promotion.
The report noted that FTR told AAA they wanted to finish up with the promotion and drop the AAA Tag Team Championship before the end of 2022.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that AAA still wants to work with AEW, but don’t want to put titles on AEW stars because of the difficulty in confirming dates on them.
Meltzer also noted that AAA would be willing to work with FTR again if they could secure dates.
After winning the AAA Tag Team Championship, Dragon Lee revealed that he has signed with WWE.
AAA reportedly wants to work with WWE. You can read more about the relationship between the two promotions right here.
