Heath Slater was one of the many people in WWE who lost their jobs two weeks ago. After fourteen years in the company, WWE decided it was time to part ways.
Now, Slater has revealed that he was burnt out by the end of his run. He made the reveal on Lillian Garcia’s Chasing Glory podcast. Here is the quote, courtesy of Pro Wrestling Sheet:
“Yeah, I lost my job … but I was burnt out, man. Burnt the hell out. I knew it. Family knew it. My coworkers knew it. I was just burned out. Fourteen years; four years developmental, ten years on the road. To where it’s like, you can be promised, you can be told, you can even have it in your hand and ready, and it just changes at the drop of a dime.”
Slater debuted on the main roster in 2010 during the original NXT. He was quickly included in the Nexus stable and won two WWE Tag Team Championships with Justin Gabriel. Slater later saw a brief surge in popularity during the reintroduction of the brand split. He and Rhyno became the inaugural SmackDown Tag Team Champions, earning Slater a contract with the blue brand after going undrafted.
