Top Star Teases AEW Debut & Kenny Omega Match AEW

AAA Mega Champion El Hijo Del Vikingo has commented on a potential match between himself and AEW’s Kenny Omega.

Omega is the longest reigning AAA Mega Champion of all time, holding the gold for 765 days between October 2019 and November 2021.

The AEW star was forced to relinquish the gold as he was undergoing multiple surgeries that he needed months to recover from.

Hijo Del Vikingo won the vacant gold in a fiveway bout at Triplemanía Regia II that December.

Now that Kenny Omega has returned to the ring, it has been speculated that Omega will challenge Vikingo for the title he never lost.

Speaking with Denise Salcedo of Instinct Culture, Vikingo pointed out that he now can wrestle in the US.

Teasing that he might show up in AEW to confront Omega, the PWI 500 #8 wrestler of 2022 said:

“The third time’s the charm. It’s now been two occasions that Kenny Omega and I were gonna wrestle, but for this and that, it wasn’t able to happen, but now I have the Visa.

“So if he doesn’t come (to Mexico), then I will go look for him. Expect some big surprises. Why not have ‘El Gran Jinete’ go and look for him in his own house? Anything can happen.

“My home, AAA, is always giving surprises. I don’t know, maybe in the future, I will go to his house, or him in ours, or somewhere in the middle. Anything can happen.”

It was rumored that the duo were set to face off at the October 15 TripleMania XXX event. Konnan previously revealed that Omega was pulled from the event due to ‘legal issues‘.

Omega is currently teaming with the Young Bucks to battle AEW Trios Champions Pac, Penta El Zero M and Rey Fenix in a Best of 7 series.

The former AEW World Champion will return to NJPW to challenge Will Ospreay for the IWGP US Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 17 on January 4, 2023.
