HUGE Ronda Rousey Match CONFIRMED For WWE Money in the Bank

WWE has taken to Twitter to announce that ‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey will challenge Nia Jax for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship at Money in the Bank on June 17.

Current champion Nia Jax defeated Alexa Bliss for the gold at WrestleMania 34, before retaining in Bliss’ contractual rematch at Backlash.

Rousey teamed with Kurt Angle at ‘Mania to defeat Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in a mixed tag team match. The ‘Baddest Woman On the Planet’ surprised many with her performance in that match, which was heralded by many as the best performance of the night.

The ‘Irresistible Force’ challenged Rousey earlier today at the 2018 ‘NBCUniversal Upfront’. Rousey, of course, accepted the offer and the match has been made official for Chicago at Money in the Bank.

Many are surprised that Rousey is part of a championship match so early in her WWE career, with her aforementioned win at WrestleMania her first and only professional wrestling match.

Rousey has recently been a part of a TV storyline also involving her good friend Natalya, and Alexa Bliss and Mickie James.

Three weeks ago in a 10-woman tag team match on Raw, Mickie James targetted Natalya’s (storyline) injured leg in an attempt to cause further damage. This led to Rousey saving the ‘Queen of Harts’ and locking James in an armbar.

A week later, Natalya faced James one-on-one. Natalya picked up the roll-up win after Rousey ensured Alexa Bliss didn’t get involved in the encounter from the outside.

It will be interesting to see whether Bliss, James, or even Natalya get involved in Rousey’s first shot at gold in WWE.

Are you surprised Rousey is getting a title shot this early in her WWE career? Do you think she will overcome Jax and become champion? Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter here.
