A top AEW star has discussed wanting to be a world champion again.
On the April 12 edition of AEW Dynamite, Jeff Hardy made his return to the company to make the save for his brother Matt Hardy, Isiah Kassidy and HOOK against The Firm.
Since then, Hardy has gotten back into in-ring action, especially in the AEW tag team division where the duo are still pursuing their first reign as champions.
Speaking with Muscle Man Malcolm at MCW Pro Wrestling’s Fan Jam event, Jeff Hardy spoke about his goals for his return to All Elite Wrestling. He said:
“Naturally, the ultimate goal is the AEW World tag team championships. We were so close before I got myself into the hell of a mess that I got myself into.”
“But now that I’m coming out of that, it’s within reach, so we’re using the Rampage moments to hopefully, eventually, create huge Dynamite moments.”
Admitting that he still has his sights on the AEW World Championship, Hardy stated:
“It’s like the last run, the last Hardy Boys run, and I still have hopes deep within my soul that I’m going to have one more solo World Championship title reign.”
On the prospects of facing current AEW World Champion MJF, Jeff said:
“Hopefully somebody else. It just makes me.. every time I hear, ‘The Devil on a different level’ I just chuckle, that’s so silly, he’s a poet and he doesn’t know it.”
“Anybody, it’s one of the goals I’ve set for myself, before it’s all said and done, to look back and say, ‘Yeah, you came out of your own personal hell and achieved a World Championship within your own personal heaven once again.'”
Jeff Hardy has been absent from AEW programming since the June 21 edition of AEW Dynamite.
Meanwhile, MJF currently has his sights set on the AEW World Tag Team Championships himself. He will team up with Adam Cole to face FTR for the titles on the July 29 episode of AEW Collision.
Ahead of the big title showdown, MJF and Cole will appear on the July 26 edition of Dynamite.
