Jim Cornette has been pretty outspoken about his disdain for the type of product that AEW is putting out and the performance of its wrestlers, but perhaps the most controversial thing he has said about the promotion concerns former AEW Women’s Champion Nyla Rose.
In case you didn’t know, Nyla Rose is a transgender female who competes in the women’s division for AEW, a promotion that pushes inclusivity and diversity within its roster. Cornette is of the belief that AEW should use the fact Rose is transgender to get her heel heat, a comment that didn’t go down well online.
At Double or Nothing last weekend, Rose defended her championship against Hikaru Shida. The match was pretty damn good, and will likely go down as one of the best women’s matches in AEW history thus far. Despite the match being heavily praised online, Cornette was still not happy.
On his podcast, the controversial former NWA commentator went on a profanity-laden rant regarding the women’s championship match at Double or Nothing. Here’s what he had to say:
“If they didn’t want to f*cking capitalize on the built-in controversy of the transgender athlete and the natural hormonal and or anatomical f*cking advantage and is it fair blah blah blah…. [Nyla is] three times the size of every other twat in that f*cking division, [she] takes more bumps and gets beat up and beat more than any of them.”
During the rant, Cornette also referred to former AEW Women’s Champion Riho as a “f*cking 90 pound school girl”. You can listen to Cornette’s full rant on the match by clicking below.
