John Cena has fuelled speculation that he is set to make a WWE return for a United States Championship feud.
At WWE Hell in a Cell, Theory defended his US Title against Mustafa Ali in singles action. Following the event, Cena shared an intriguing image to Instagram, where he typically posts without context.
The 16-time World Champion posted a shot of Kevin Owen’s foot on the US Title from the now-famous segment in which Owens made his surprise WWE Raw debut to attack John Cena in 2015.
Aside from Cena’s ‘Stone Cold Steve Austin’ meme posts, this is Cena’s first WWE-related post on Instagram since May 2, when he shared a photo of The Rock on the People’s Champion’s birthday.
Many fans have speculated that Cena could soon be making a surprise WWE return to confront US Champion Theory, possibly as soon as tonight (June 6), on WWE Raw.

This comes after Cena teasing a feud with Theory in a WWE Q&A, answering ‘Theory’ when asked who his favorite current star is, and which star is in need of an Attitude Adjustment. Theory has since reacted to Cena mentioning him.
Cena last wrestled on TV at SummerSlam 2021, unsuccessfully challenging for Roman Reigns’ Universal Championship. Reigns’ next title challenger was seemingly revealed at WWE Hell in a Cell.
