Roman Reigns’ next WWE Universal Championship challenger was potentially revealed during Sunday’s (June 5) Hell in a Cell Premium Live Event.
On the show, Bobby Lashley faced off against MVP & Omos in a handicap match. The All Mighty picked up the victory, eliminating Omos from the equation with a spear following a distraction from Cedric Alexander, and forcing his former manager to submit to the Hurt Lock.
While celebrating his win, Lashley did a title gesture around his waist, indicating that he wants some gold. Lashley made his message a whole lot clearer by grabbing a fan’s WWE Championship replica, and celebrating with the model belt at ringside.
While WWE stars often celebrate with fan replica belts at house shows, this rarely happens at televised WWE events. On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that it will likely be Reigns vs Lashley at Money in the Bank on July 2.
Lashley expressed interest in pursuing a World Title last month on WWE The Bump, believing that he wants to bring the top title back to WWE Raw.
Reigns hasn’t defended his gold on TV since defeating Brock Lesnar in the WWE Title vs Universal Title Winner Takes All match at WrestleMania 38 in April.
