Kenny Omega has discussed WWE and AEW’s viewership since both companies returned to touring, believing that WWE has grown desperate.
For two straight weeks earlier this month, AEW Dynamite beat the respective week’s episode of Raw in the key 18-49 demographic.
Speaking with Tokyo Sports (via Hige Channel), Omega argued that the gap between the two promotions closed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Noting that WWE has recently featured more ‘legends’ on TV, Omega said:
“At the start, there was a huge gap between WWE and AEW. (AEW) was just some fledgling promotion after all. But have you realized how the tables have turned? WWE is desperate. They keep bringing back Legends every other week. COVID is a terrible thing, and we never wanted it to happen but it is what it is.”
Omega had previously noted that he believes 90% of the WWE roster would make the jump to AEW if they could.
On last week’s Dynamite Grand Slam show, Kenny Omega faced Bryan Danielson in the former WWE Champion’s AEW in-ring debut. The two stars wrestled to a time limit draw.
Ruby Soho has recently talked about her post-WWE vignettes, revealing that a former WWE employee came to her with the idea of producing the videos.
