A WWE Hall of Famer believes AEW hasn’t grown beyond audience seeking blood and “spot fest.”
On the July 19 edition of AEW Dynamite, the company held their third edition of the two-ring steel cage “Blood & Guts” match with The Golden Elite defeating Blackpool Combat Club to end their bitter war.
There have been many fans and pundits who have talked about the level of violence on display at the recent steel cage spectacle, especially with news of AEW instituting an official safety precautions for wrestlers.
On his Kliq This podcast, Kevin Nash shared his belief that AEW is hoping to widen its audience with these recent changes. He said:
“I think that what you do … What you do when you allow that much blood and that much spot fest, you paint yourself into a certain demographic that’s going to watch that program.”
“They haven’t grown that audience. There’s a reason why they’re not growing the audience … while in the meantime, WWE is doing some really nice ratings.”
Nash is admittedly a “WWE guy”, but he believes his criticisms aren’t any less potent.
