Kurt Angle Makes In-Ring Return At WWE House Show

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle made his in-ring return at a WWE house show in San Antonio, Texas on Friday night.

Angle was defeated by Baron Corbin, after Corbin thought he’d pick up a simple forfeit win over Braun Strowman. Angle instead came out and took on Corbin, which is the same role John Cena has been filling on house shows the last couple of weeks.

Cena is starting on a movie on January 20, so has been removed from house shows and isn’t scheduled for this coming Raw or SmackDown, but will be at the Royal Rumble, per the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

You can watch Angle’s return here:

Angle’s last one-on-one match was on the November 5 Raw in the UK, when he was destroyed by Drew McIntyre in the main event. He then returned at TLC on December 16 to assist Braun Strowman in defeating Baron Corbin, although this of course didn’t count as an official match for the four-time WWE Champion.

Angle hasn’t competed in a match since the December 17 episode of Raw, in which he, Apollo Crews, Chad Gable and Bobby Roode all defeated Baron Corbin as part of the introduction of WWE’s so-called “new era”.
