A late change that was forced to be made to last night’s WWE Royal Rumble premium live event has been revealed.
Last night’s WWE Royal Rumble event featured four matches, with two Royal Rumble matches, the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match and the United States Championship match.
For all four matches, Raw ring announcer Samantha Irvin was on duty as the ring announcer, which was said to not originally be the plan.
Samantha Irvin told Denise Salcedo that she was originally slated to only call one match on last night’s show, but ended up calling all the matches.
Fightful Select (subscription required) notes that SmackDown ring announcer Mike Rome was off the show after losing his voice, leading to Samantha calling all the matches instead.
Rome had been on ring announcing duties for SmackDown one night prior.
In other news related to the broadcast team, the SmackDown commentary team is likely set for a new addition this coming week after the departure of Kevin Patrick, as Michael Cole said this past Friday that his appearance was for “one night only”.
