Hello and welcome to our live coverage for tonight’s episode of WWE NXT on the USA Network!
We’re coming off the back of Halloween Havoc, and here’s what we’ve got on the menu tonight:
- Dakota Kai vs. Ember Moon
- Tommaso Ciampa vs. Velveteen Dream
- Shotzi Blackheart vs. Toni Storm
- Cameron Grimes vs. Kushida
All that and more tonight, which will probably include more developments in the ongoing issue between Pat McAfee’s new group – which now includes Pete Dunne – and the Undisputed ERA.
Follow along with our live coverage below for results, analysis and banter throughout the show!
Ciampa Stands Tall Over Dream
Ciampa’s mask during his entrance is SO cool and makes him look like an absolute boss. Sometimes masks like that just look stupid but his suits him really well.
Ciampa absolutely dominated Dream for a while, which was nice to see. It really made him seem a level above. Dream got the upper hand through commercials but didn’t stay on top for long.
They did a superplex and piped in “this is awesome!” chants for some reason as if we don’t see a superplex in pretty much every match nowadays.
After a nasty spill to the outside on the apron, Dream tried to cheat by sliding a steel chair in the ring to distract the ref so he could clock Ciampa with the cast on his arm, but Ciampa caught him with a knee and followed up with both Willow’s Bell and the Fairytale Ending and got the win.
That was really good in terms of re-solidifying Ciampa as a top player in NXT. Didn’t do a lot for Dream, but frankly there are many, many people I’d rather see pushed than him right now anyway.
That was a pretty decent show as usual. That’s pretty much the guarantee with NXT nowadays. It won’t blow you away but it’s always solid stuff.

Fantasma, Thatch As Thatch Can & Xia Li
We get a parking lot interview with Santos Escobar and Legado Del Fantasma. Escobar says he didn’t have to cheat last week (even though he did).
Jake Atlas pulls up and starts attacking them with a baseball bat until he realises three people is better than one person with a bat and he drives off again.
After that, we get a Thatch As That Can segment in the ring with Timothy Thatcher whose student today is Akeem Young.
This new presentation of these with Thatcher in the ring has freshened it up and it’s really entertaining.
As usual, Thatcher lays it in a bit more than he should on the student. Anthony Greene then comes out as he was he victim of Thatcher a couple of weeks ago. He has a new name which is August Grey, but Vic Joseph called him Austin Grey so there’s that.
When he arrives he gets a couple of blows in on Thatcher but Thatcher flees.
To a backstage interview now with Xia Li, who says the letters she’s been receiving from Boa are very personal and she doesn’t want to reveal any more details. She does, however, ask William Regal for a match against Raquel Gonzalez next week.
Up next is the main event with Tommaso Ciampa vs Velveteen Dream! Weird that this hasn’t even been mentioned during the show until now but oh well.
Looks like @augustgreywwe has a lesson to teach Timothy Thatcher this week! 😮 #WWENXT pic.twitter.com/fYxW6n7go4

LeRae Destroys Blackheart's tank
You saw the botch in the previous update, and everyone botches – it’s just a thing that happens in wrestling. Missteps are easy.
But, it’s very clear Blackheart needs work in the ring, even with all the experience she’s had on TV over the past year or so. She doesn’t seem to do anything smoothly and this has been a constant in most of her matches.
Storm looked miles ahead in terms of her work being polished.
They did a spot where they were both on the outside and Blackheart got back in the ring. The ref stopped his count for ages until Candice LeRae popped up on the video screen and reveals she’s the one who stole Blackheart’s tank!
If the ref had kept counting, like he should have, Blackheart would have won by countout.
But as it played out, the distraction allows Storm to win with a rollup, after which LeRae pops back up on the screen. She’s with the tank in the middle of the road and a car pulls up.
It’s the masked attacker who helped LeRae last week, and LeRae gets in the car and runs the tank over until it’s completely destroyed.
Blackheart screams and cries as if it’s the most traumatic thing she’s ever seen. If this is the start of less silliness and more badassness from Blackheart then good. If not, then it sucked.
We're so sorry, @ShotziWWE. #WWENXT @CandiceLeRae pic.twitter.com/ZFQajxPfGN

More Bad Gargano Comedy, Toni Storm Next
Back from commercials we go from something really cool in that McAfee segment to something really uncool in Johnny Gargano.
He’s doing a promo sat at home with the masked attacker from last week. They try to make it comedy despite being heels and, as usual with Gargano, it didn’t work.
This heel turn has been a disaster and now he has the North American Title to make it even worse.
Well up next is Toni Storm vs Shotzi Blackheart, which should be fun.
Blackheart didn’t have her tank for her entrance and she was mad at Storm because she thought she was the one who took it.
Blackheart also did this which is a good start:

Pat McAfee Is The Best
Back from commercials, the Kings of NXT are still in the ring and we get a McAfee promo saying they run NXT now.
They get an Undisputed ERA flag and ‘pay tribute’ to the group that used to run NXT before the new group came along.
McAfee runs down the history of UE, and then Dunne says him turning on O’Reilly was payback for when Strong turned on him at TakeOver New Orleans in 2018 to join UE.
That is a FANTASTIC callback and a great explanation for his involvement in the group.
The group decides that instead of raising the UE flag, they’d rather throw it in the trash instead. Dunne pours gasoline on it and drops in a lighter and the flag burns in the trash can in the ring.
Pat McAfee is just the best. He is amazing. He is the best heel in NXT and one of the best in all of wrestling without a single doubt.
The cameras stay on the group all the way back to their car outside, and Killian Dain tries to get payback on them, but the numbers game is too much, and Dunne kicks the car door against Dain’s head.
As they drive off, Dain was down on the ground covered in blood.
This was an incredible segment.
They're not going to raise the #UndisputedERA banner, they're going to BURN IT. 😨🔥#WWENXT @PeteDunneYxB @PatMcAfeeShow @ONEYLORCAN @strongstylebrit pic.twitter.com/0gfThgCWqN

The Kings Of NXT Are Here
Turns out Storm vs Blackheart wasn’t next, they just spoke about it for no reason.
When we get back from commercials we get a video package / promo cut together thing with Io Shirai who says she wants to defend the Women’s Title against Rhea Ripley, which is cool.
The actual next match was Drake Maverick vs Killian Dain AGAIN. I don’t mind the Dain/Maverick stuff but does I’d like to see them against someone other than Ever-Rise.
For the first time Dain & Maverick make their entrance without Dain calling for the music to be cut off, so that’s some more progress being made.
They cut away from the match to a split/screen part-way through of McAfee, Burch, Lorcan & Dunne arriving. They get out the car, McAfee gets a camera and they head into the arena and start destroying Dain & Maverick in the ring.
One thing I will say about this particular group is it suits Danny Burch really well. He looks and sounds like a heel. Lorcan not so much because he’s so popular, and Dunne is, well, he’s Pete Dunne. He looks very miserable.
McAfee, as always, was fantastic. At the end of the beatdown he turned the camera round and they did a selfie to cut to commercials.
Commentary called them the Kings of NXT several times so I guess that’s their ‘faction name’, which is fine.
"Smile if you're the greatest 4-man in wrestling history!"

THE ZOMBIE REFEREE!
The commentary was trying to get over the fact that Grimes was out of sorts during the match because of the zombie encounter he had last week, which is, erm, interesting.
At least with Vic he was doing it in a jokey way whereas if this was SmackDown Michael Cole would act as if it’s all legit and not completely ridiculous.
Much like Ember Moon, Kushida has become more aggressive recently but remains a babyface. He really lacks in size and I wish they’d talk more about his combat sports background because it makes him being competitive and/or winning a lot more palatable.
Kushida twice accidentally shoved Grimes into the referee, which knocked the ref out of the ring, and meant he didn’t see Grimes tap out to Kushida’s hoverboard lock finisher.
A replacement then came out, but it was the ZOMBIE REF from the Haunted House of Terror match! This scared Grimes and thus Kushida won.
This crossed the line of being too silly for me. When the commentators scream “IT’S THE ZOMBIE REFEREE” I don’t know what to say.
Up next is Shotzi Blackheart vs Toni Storm.
It's okay, @CGrimesWWE! The Haunted House of Terror Match is over!
That's just referee @WWEdarrylsharma. Yes, that's it… "referee." 😉#WWENXT pic.twitter.com/INHSJZE8Om

CAMRIN GRAHMS Vs Kushida Next
After the match we get a backstage interview with CAMRIN GRAHMS.
He’s in some kind of trauma phase after the Haunted House of Terror match last week and basically poos himself whenever anybody comes up behind him.
I’ll say the same thing I said with the Haunted Gouse deal last week. Anybody else and it’s just silly nonsense, with GRAHMS, it’s still silly nonsense but it’s really entertaining silly nonsense.
And that’s the good stuff.
Before the match we get a backstage interviewer with Shotzi Blackheart who says she’s a big fan of her opponent Toni Storm then does the stupid bark/howl thing.
There’s so much potential with Blackheart but she’s just too silly to make good on it. If she went more towards the badass side of things it’d be money.
Anyway, Kushida vs GRAHMS is underway!
Safe to say, @CGrimesWWE is certainly not "over" last week's Haunted House of Terror Match. #WWENXT @WWEdarrylsharma @MckenzieMitch pic.twitter.com/XSjeJosel1

Gonzalez Helps Kai To Victory
The idea with this was to establish Moon’s more aggressive new attitude to get over the idea of “Ember’s Law” which is her catchphrase whereby she does whatever she wants now.
There were a few instances of that – pulling on the hair, using the ropes for leverage – but it wasn’t overly done.
Actually just after I wrote that, her comeback got a bit close to being too much. Even with Ember’s Law, she’s Ember Moon not Hulk Hogan.
Well, surprisingly, Dakota Kai managed to get the win. Didn’t expect it but I’m all for it because she’s great.
Moon went to the top for the Eclipse and a Gonzalez distraction allowed Kai to win. Pretty good opening.

Moon Vs Kai Kicking Us Off
We’re kicking things off tonight with Ember Moon vs Dakota Kai in what should be a pretty damn good match.
Expecting Moon to win since she’s still so fresh back on the roster but they’re both very solid in the ring so it should be a fun watch either way.
Kai does have Raquel Gonzalez in her corner so that could come into play. Gonzalez lost to Rhea Ripley last week.
Always nice – but too rare nowadays – to open the show with some entrances, a recap, and a clean start to the match.
