Backstage details have emerged on what actually happened with Logan Paul recently being told that he didn’t have WWE’s permission to fight NFL players.
Following his recent back-and-forth with Tom Brady, Logan Paul issued a $1,000,000 open bet, willing to professionally fight any current or former NFL player who had the money to put on the line.
With Paul publicly discussing plans to spar both Le’Veon Bell and Breiden Fehoko in their choice of boxing or MMA, footage from a live stream emerged of who Logan Paul said was WWE Head of Talent Relations Chris Legentil, informing him that he doesn’t have WWE’s permission for these plans.
Following speculation about the legitimacy of the call, Dave Meltzer reports in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that a WWE source told him that the conversation heard in the viral footage was staged, but a “close replica” of the actual conversation.
Dave Meltzer wrote the following:
“One source in WWE said that the conversation itself that was played and everyone heard was staged, but that it was close to a replica of what actually went down in the sense that the reasons in the call why they wouldn’t allow him to box and how it was explained was how it was done.
“Another confirmed the reasons as explained were legit and while not denying the phone call itself being planned for release, was essentially done publicly to explain why Paul couldn’t do the fight since the fight with Bell by that time had gotten a lot of media publicity.”
