An update has emerged on ticket sales for the upcoming AEW Revolution pay-per-view.
Per the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, scalpers could be set to make more money from event ticket sales to actual fans than AEW itself.
The report noted that as of February 20, secondary market buyers had purchased roughly 3,800 tickets for Revolution. Of these, about 500 tickets were still unsold on the market.
Of the tickets sold, 1,635 tickets in the upper level were sold at an average of $84.50 per seat, and 1,352 in the lower lever averaged $385 a ticket. 300 on the floor averaged $601 per ticket.
According to the report’s calculations, $304,000 worth of tickets have been sold on the secondary market for $840,333 ($536,333 net profit), with 500 tickets still unsold.
AEW is currently planning for a capacity of 8,200 in the Addition Financial Arena, meaning they’d end up with a $650,000 house. If 3,800 of these seats were sold to secondary market buyers, only 4,400 of the tickets bought direct would be purchased by actual fans. According to the reports calculations, AEW would be earning around $400,000 from actual fans.
With 500 tickets still to sell, the secondary market is expected to bring home over $900,000. Per the report, there are only three non-WWE shows that grossed $900,000 in the history of pro wrestling, the January 4, 1999 WCW Nitro event, a ROH/NJPW Madison Square Garden sellout ($1.1 million) and last year’s AEW Grand Slam event ($960,000).
At the pay-per-view, Hangman Page will defend his AEW World Championship against Adam Cole.
