Major Scrapped Plans For ‘Non-AEW Wrestler’ At WrestleDream Revealed AEW

A new report has revealed major scrapped plans for a “non-AEW wrestler” at WrestleDream.

At AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam, Rey Fenix defeated Jon Moxley to win the AEW International Championship. However, this wasn’t the original plan for the match.

Moxley was hurt early on during the bout, and was later dropped on his head with two highly criticized piledrivers to end the match.

As previously reported, there was heat on referee Rick Knox following this bout, but there is more to this story in regards to what was supposed to happen after the match.

Fightful Select (subscription required) provided an update, noting that the audible to have Fenix win the match caused immediate changes to both AEW Dynamite and this Sunday’s AEW WrestleDream event.

The report notes that the original plans saw a “non-AEW wrestler” was scheduled to come out on AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam to challenge Jon Moxley for WrestleDream.

However, when the match result changed, so did the post match angle and WrestleDream challenge. There is no confirmation on who this “non-AEW wrestler” was supposed to be.

WrestleTalk will provide further updates on this situation and AEW WrestleDream when they become available.
