Major Title Matches Added To G1 Supercard

Last night it was announced that NJPW’s Kota Ibushi will be challenging Tetsuya Naito for the latter’s IWGP Intercontinental Championship in what is bound to be a spectacular affair.

That was not the only new title match be announced last night, with two new championship matches being added, and a major change occurring to one of the already announced bouts. British submission specialist Zack Sabre Jr. will be defending his RPW Heavyweight Championship against NJPW veteran Hiroshi Tanahashi, a rematch of their 2018 New Japan Final bout where Sabre Jr. walked out as the victor.

In addition, Mayu Iwatani is now scheduled to defend her Women of Honor World Championship in a rematch against former champion Kelly Klein. This is so far the only scheduled women’s match on the show. Another new inclusion was NJPW legend Jushin Thunder Liger, who has been confirmed as a participant in the Honor Rumble Match.

There has also been a change to one of the championship matches that was already announced. The two-on-two tag team match between IWGP Tag Team champions Guerrillas of Destiny and ROH Tag Team champions PCO and Brody King with both titles on the line has been changed to a fatal-four way. The tag bout will now also feature EVIL and SANADA and The Briscoes.
