Rey Mysterio & Kevin Owens Reportedly Injured

Wrestling Observer reported that Rey Mysterio has been “pulled from the WWE SmackDown World Cup Tournament due to a lower-body injury.”

The injury, which Dave Meltzer reports was “either (Mysterio’s) foot or ankle” saw Mysterio to be seen wearing a walking boot at the recent SmackDown taping.

Whilst Meltzer also reports that the injury is “not believed to be serious”, it has led to Mysterio being replaced by Mustafa Ali in the SmackDown World Cup Tournament.

Braun Strowman

Ali was announced as part of the lineup on SmackDown, but Mysterio was originally planned for that spot.

Fightful Select reported that Ali is still a member of the Raw roster and will be on both shows for as long as he’s in the World Cup.

On November 13, the WWE Sunday Stunner house show at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin seemingly saw Kevin Owens sustain an injury which led to the referee helping him after the match.

Multiple reports on Twitter suggest that Owens was injured after he “planted his right knee”, though it wasn’t clear as to which moment in the match had caused the injury to occur.

The event featured appearances from, among others, Charlotte’s father Ric Flair, her husband Andrade El Idolo, Booker T, Bryan Danielson, Saraya and Liv Morgan.

Flair announced news of her absence on Twitter ahead of the event, though did encourage fans to meet her husband, Andrade El Idolo.

This news did stir up some conversation about her lack of presence on WWE TV.

Charlotte Flair battles with Ronda Rousey

Charlotte Flair has been off WWE TV since May, six months ago

Charlotte Flair hasn’t been seen on WWE TV since losing to Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania Backlash in May.

Ric Flair provided an update through the ‘To Be The Man’ podcast, explaining:

I know she’s talking to the company, but I don’t know any more than that.”

Conrad Thompson, the host of the podcast and brother-in-law of Charlotte, added:

You and I know that physically, she’s fine. Emotionally, she’s fine. It’s her business to share.

“But I guess what I wanted to sort of set the record straight on (is) there’s nothing wrong with Charlotte Flair. She’s just fine.”

WWE Star Attacked By Fan At House Show

The WWE Saturday Night Main Event house show in Peoria, Illinois took place on November 12 and saw WWE return to the city for the first time in over two and a half years.

The show featured a match that drew an unexpected fan reaction as Karrion Kross faced Drew McIntyre.

With Scarlett at ringside, an “older” woman threw liquid, which doused Scarlett.

According to reports, the liquid looked like water, but others reported it was beer or alcohol.

Event security approached the woman and removed her.

They would then return to remove the other members of the party, likely family members, though this would necessitate police involvement.

Eventually, the whole group were kicked out of the venue, and the match continued as planned.

Other Stuff

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the botched table spot with Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez on SmackDown was down to communication issue because the planned spot was changed at the “last second”.

After recent reports about WWE being hopeful he’d be returning soon, Robert Roode was backstage at the latest edition of SmackDown according to PWInsider. If Roode does return to SmackDown, that does mean that we’re not going to see Roode and Dolph Ziggler team as Roode-Dolph, complete with light-up red noses, in time for a WWE Christmas show!

Fightful Select reported that Kalisto has been guest coaching at the WWE Performance Center recently.

Tyrus won the NWA World Championship at the Hard Times pay-per-view in a three-way with Matt Cardona and Trevor Murdoch.

Bobby Fish won his pro boxing debut fight against Boateng Prempeh on the undercard of Mayweather vs Deji. Several other names with pro-wrestling ties were there including Sammy Guevara and Andy Sheherd who were both on the broadcast team.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling announcer Kevin Kelly has announced that he will be involved in a new wrestling promotion. On Twitter, he announced that he has a “financial stake” in the newly formed American eXcellence Wrestling. The company’s first event is due to take place on January 7 2023 at Historic Hamburg Field House in Hamburg, Pennsylvania.
