Mark Henry Wanted To Prove To WWE His Efforts Don’t Go Unnoticed

Mark Henry has discussed his current role in AEW and has revealed what he told WWE before he left the company.

Mark Henry made his debut for AEW at Double or Nothing in May. The World’s Strongest Man has revealed that before his WWE departure, he told the company that he wanted to prove that his efforts don’t go unnoticed.

Speaking on the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Henry pointed out that he’s always been competitive. Discussing his success in AEW so far, Henry said:

“I alluded to the fact that, where I was working before that, you know, for what I was doing, it was not enough for me, that I was going to have to look for work elsewhere. I was told, you know, ‘I mean, that’s, that’s what you gotta do. You gotta look out for your family. I understand.’ I said, ‘But you know I’m competitive and I want to win and prove to you and everybody else that my efforts don’t go unnoticed. I didn’t become a world champion in three different sports by accident and a national champion four times in another sport.’

“So I’ve been pretty busy and I’ve had a lot of success and it’s about (being the) product (of) but hard work and exposure. So that’s what I feel like my biggest gift is going to be to the talent is I paid attention and I’m exposed to a lot of things in a bunch of different areas and if you just, you know, humble yourself a little bit and not kill the messenger, you’ll come away from it a better person.”

Henry will be an analyst for AEW Rampage when the show debuts on August 13. The WWE Hall of Famer recently explained how Rampage will differ from Dynamite.
