Match Pulled From WWE SummerSlam 2023

Match Pulled From WWE SummerSlam 2023 WWE

A planned match for WWE SummerSlam 2023 has been pulled from the show and instead will take place at a later date.

On tonight’s episode of WWE Raw (July 31), a match was announced for tonight between Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus, despite the match being planned for SummerSlam ever since Stratus returned several months ago.

When Becky Lynch called out Trish Stratus for a match tonight, Stratus initially refused but was interrupted by Adam Pearce to not only make the match official, but to kick it off straight away.

However, it wasn’t a match for a long as Zoey Stark immediately intervened, attacking Lynch to cause a disqualification, but then some more brawling continued around ringside.

Eventually, Stratus and Stark brought in a steel chair and Stratus shouted “There’s your rematch Becky Lynch!”.

After the commercial break, Adam Pearce approached Stratus and Stark backstage to inform them that there will be another Lynch vs Stratus match, and this time, there won’t be any interfernce from Stark as she’ll be banned from ringside.

However, THAT match won’t be taking place at SummerSlam either, instead on Raw in two weeks (August 14) in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada – Stratus’ home country.

Another women’s match that appears to have been pulled from the planned SummerSlam card is Rhea Ripley vs Raquel Rodriguez.

Tonight, Rodriguez was attacked by Ripley once again and Rodriguez suffered another storyline injury, and during a subsequent segment backstage, Adam Pearce told Rodriguez she wasn’t cleared to compete, and the match with Ripley will only take place when she is.

A new date for that one hasn’t been confirmed, so it’s possible that WWE may announce Rodriguez is cleared before Saturday actually comes around, but it certainly isn’t official as of tonight and it doesn’t look likely for SummerSlam, otherwise they’d have probably just announced it tonight.

So it looks like WWE has dropped those two matches, leaving two women’s matches on the card, those being Asuka vs Bianca Belair vs Charlotte Flair, and an MMA Rules match between Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler.
