Matt Cardona Shoots On The Term ‘Jobber’: ‘I Hate It’

There is a disconnect between those in the wrestling business and those who are just fans. This often comes in the form of criticism of the product or in the use of what would once be considered “insider terms”. One such term that gets used wrong is “Jobber” according to AEW star Matt Cardona.

Cardona spoke about the term and how much he hates it. He didn’t mince words and was very clear about his feelings on those who use it. Here is the quote from the Major Wrestling Figure podcast, courtesy of Fightful:

I hate the term ‘jobber’ and when somebody uses the term ‘jobber.’ I hate it. A ‘jobber’ to me, is Duane Gill before he was Gillberg. That’s a jobber. If you’re on television, you’re not a jobber. Win, lose, or draw, you’re not a jobber. I hate internet marks who use that term. It’s not a real word. I was in WWE for how long, I don’t think anybody in the back calls anyone a ‘jobber.’ It’s an outside looking in term. No one is like, ‘Hey Hawkins, you lost 100 times in a row, you jobber!’ I think people use it incorrectly. [The boys] don’t use it at all. It’s internet people and people who think they are smart who use it, and it pisses me off.”

Cardona debuted in All Elite Wrestling on July 29 after spending his career in WWE as Zack Ryder. He will be making his AEW pay per view debut at All Out next Saturday when he teams with Scorpio Sky and the Natural Nightmares to take on the Dark Order.
