There are currently 10 matches on the SummerSlam card, but you’d be foolish for thinking that the card had been finalised.
Over the past 48 hours, we’ve seen speculation over matches such as Roman Reigns vs Daniel Bryan, Roman Reigns & Samoa Joe vs Daniel Bryan & Rowan, Roman Reigns vs Buddy Murphy, and Drew McIntyre vs Cedric Alexander.
That last one, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer at least, is still scheduled to take place, so expect an announcement from WWE in the coming days.
“I was told that the card is completely fluid because right now there’s eleven matches. There could be matches taken away, matches added. The only thing is I don’t expect of the eleven [we have] they’ll take away, but Drew McIntyre vs Cedric Alexander is still as far as I know still on the card, but not announced. Who knows?”
For a show like SummerSlam, 10 matches isn’t very many, particularly considering that WrestleMania had 16, and WWE are reportedly keen on making SummerSlam as big as ‘Mania.
Both the Raw and SmackDown men’s tag belts aren’t being defended, the women’s tag belts aren’t being defended, and the Intercontinental Championship isn’t being defended, so don’t be surprised if matches get announced ahead of Sunday or even during the pre-show.
