A very interesting new role for a current WWE SmackDown star may have been revealed at last night’s SmackDown taping.
At last night’s SmackDown show, two new matches were taped for the upcoming launch of the ‘WWE Speed’ show on Twitter/X.
The matches saw Odyssey Jones face off with Cedric Alexander, as well as Tyler Bate taking on Angel.
The interesting note on the tapings came in the form of who was listed as the producer for both the matches prior to the show.
Per Fightful Select (subscription required), current WWE SmackDown star Pete Dunne was listed internally as the producer both the Speed matches, listed as the sole producer with no co-producer.
Dunne has not been listed as a producer in recent weeks, and this was his first appearance in the role.
Dunne is still an active in-ring competitor in the company, with him and Tyler Bate forming the ‘New Catch Republic’ on SmackDown, and seemingly being set for a spot in the Undisputed Tag Team Championship Ladder match at WrestleMania.
It is not known if he is planned to produce more matches going forward, or if it was simply an experiment for the new show.
