Nick Aldis Wrestling Return & WWE In-Ring Debut Announced For SummerSlam 2026

WWE SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis will return to the ring at SummerSlam, as announced by Triple H.

During Sunday’s (July 19) SummerSlam Kickoff event, Triple H announced that Nick Aldis will face GUNTHER at SummerSlam.

This came after GUNTHER confronting Triple H during the Kickoff show, asking him what he’s going to do, following Aldis interfering in his match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Nick Aldis then came out, and it didn’t take long for a brawl to break out.

After the duo were separated, Triple H stated that the duo will settle this in the ring, officially confirming a singles match for SummerSlam.

SummerSlam will emanate from the US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota on August 1 and 2.

This will be Nick Aldis’ WWE in-ring debut, with Aldis having not wrestled since making his TV debut as the SmackDown General Manager in October 2023.

Aldis last wrestled on October 7, 2023, competing in a five-way match for ACW. He hasn’t had a one-on-one bout since defeating Davey Boy Smith Jr at the September 30, 2023 World Classic Professional Big Time Wrestling show.

The decision to keep the former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion in a non-wrestling role left many fans scratching their heads following Nick Aldis’ TV debut.

The company appears to have faith in Nick Aldis’ ability, with the on-screen authority figure and backstage producer’s first match ever for the company – and first bout in almost three years – taking place at one of WWE’s biggest shows, against one of WWE’s biggest stars.

It will be interesting to see how they present Nick Aldis, who, while not having debuted in WWE, has achieved many accolades in wrestling, including holding world titles in NWA and TNA Wrestling.
