Nikki Bella: ‘Rousey’s Debut Was A Slap In The Face’

Ronda Rousey made her WWE debut at the Royal Rumble in 2018. The event also saw the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble match, which Nikki Bella was the runner-up in. Rousey debuted after the match, and now it seems Bella believes this was wrong.

In her memoir, Incomparable, Bella revealed how she felt about Rousey’s debut. In short, she was not a fan. Here is the quote from E-Online:

“It was nothing against Ronda—it is thrilling that she is at WWE—but it was a bit of a slap in the face to all the historic women wrestlers who had come out for the match, the main event, only to have the moment upstaged by the Ronda announcement. It just didn’t need to happen like that.”

This is an interesting position to take considering this sort of thing happens all the time in pro-wrestling. It is also worth mentioning that Rousey had more to do with any “Women’s Evolution” in WWE than any of the participants in the actual match.

Rousey and Bella ended up wrestling one another at Evolution, nine months later. Rousey won and retained her Raw Women’s Championship. To date, this was Nikki Bella’s last match.
