NJPW ‘Big Gun’ Set For AEW Dynamite June 14 Appearance? AEW/NJPW

With AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door taking place on June 25, the possibility of New Japan stars appearing on AEW Dynamite has been addressed.

The Capitol One Arena in Washington D.C is the home for the June 14, 2023 episode of AEW Dynamite as the company gears up for its upcoming PPV.

With Tony Khan having recently described the partnership between AEW and NJPW as “more imperative than ever“, the possibility of some of NJPW’s stars appearing in the run up to the collaborative event was discussed by Dave Meltzer.

Addressing the possibility of NJPW’s “big guns” turning up in Washington during Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer stated:

“There are some New Japan wrestlers, like KENTA, who are in the country who could be on the show Wednesday, but almost all the big guns – Tanahashi, Okada, Sanada, Naito, Yota Tsuji if you consider him a big gun, Hiromu Takahashi, Shingo Takagi, all those guys – they are all working in Japan this week so none of those guys would be available to show up as a surprise on Dynamite.”

Meltzer did reveal one name that he believed was going to pop up on our screens during AEW Dynamite, adding:

“But, there is a hint… I was just watching the All Together Again show, and the announcers basically made a comment about Sanada and Wednesday’s Dynamite show, so he may have a taped interview, and the Sanada match on the Forbidden Door show, it sounds like it’s going to be revealed on Wednesday night.

“That’s basically the hints that were given on the New Japan broadcast on Friday.”

So far, two matches have been announced for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, with Kazuchika Okada facing Bryan Danielson and IWGP Champion Kenny Omega taking on Will Ospreay.

KENTA has also recently responded to the possibility of a match with CM Punk one the June 25 pay-per-view.

With Mercedes Mone having recently shared a photo that suggests she’s undergone surgery for a leg injury, it’s unlikely she will make an appearance at Forbidden Door.
