New Japan Pro Wrestling‘s final big show of the year is in the books. The 2018 World Tag League has been decided and a set of repeat winners stand tall at the conclusion of the tournament.
Evil and Sanada defeated the Guerrillas of Destiny in the finals of the tournament, winning the competition for the second year in a row. Following the match the Young Bucks emerged and demanded that they get their rematch for the IWGP Tag Team Championships. Evil said that they could face two teams and it would make no difference. This would appear to potentially set up a three-way match between the Young Bucks, Evil and Sanada, and GoD at Wrestle Kingdom 13.
The NEVER Openweight Championship match for Wrestle Kingdom 13 has also been decided. Kota Ibushi was able to defeat Hirooki Goto to win the championship for the first time. Meanwhile, the returning Will Ospreay managed to knock off Taichi to become the number one contender for the title. This means the long rumored Will Ospreay vs. Kota Ibushi match will take place at Wrestle Kingdom 13.
With the NEVER Openweight Championship match decided and the IWGP Tag Team Championship match likely to follow, the full card for the Tokyo Dome appears to have taken shape.
The full list of results from the World Tag League Finals is as follows:
