Former NJPW IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Kota Ibushi has teased an AEW run, and a reunion with Kenny Omega.
During Ibushi’s in-ring absence, it has been speculated that the Japanese star could soon debut for AEW, especially following AEW and NJPW’s first crossover event, Forbidden Door.
On Twitter, Ibushi indicated that he plans to make an appearance for AEW in the future. When asked whether he will go to AEW, Ibushi replied:
“At least once ?”
In another tweet, Ibushi noted that he’s interested in reuniting his and Kenny Omega’s Golden Lovers tag-team, writing:
“I’m going because there are kind of a lot of AEW expectations, maybe three times. I can’t promise that the card will be set up correctly, but Lovers can (reunite).”
When asked about dream AEW opponents, Ibushi simply replied:
“Adam Page”
Ibushi went public with serious accusations against NJPW management, and ‘harassing bosses’ earlier this year.
NJPW officially addressed a ‘severe disagreement’ the two sides had in May, with it being announced that Ibushi would receive a penalty for an appearance that breached his NJPW contract, and an official who allegedly harassed Ibushi to also receive a penalty.
Ibushi hasn’t wrestled since suffering a shoulder injury during the G1 Climax tournament finals in October 2021. You can read Ibushi’s recent comments on his injury right here.
なんかAEW期待多いから行きますね、3回くらいは。そのカードが的確に組まれるかは約束できませんがラバーズはできます。
