It’s a marathon, not a sprint. For the first time since AEW: Dynamite debuted on TNT on October 2, NXT pulled in more viewers on average.
There has been a mixed reaction to this news across social media, with a lot of WWE fans feeling that this is the start of AEW’s demise, and a lot of AEW fans reminding the WWE fans that this week’s show was pretty much entirely main-roster stars invading.
As a wrestling fan in general, it’s just great to see that both sides are pulling out all the stops to be as good as possible, and honestly as long as the quality of matches and story-telling continues to be this high, why would anyone complain?
Both Cody and Chris Jericho have reacted to the news on Twitter, and now NXT Champion Adam Cole has given this thoughts in an interview with The Wrap.
“We’re just mainly focused on trying to put on a really exciting, cool show. And last night’s show was just an absolute blast, with the guys from ‘Raw,’ the guys from ‘SmackDown,’ the matches that happened, it was just a really, really cool night and so I’m glad so many people enjoyed it.”
The really interesting ratings will be coming in the next few weeks, when NXT will likely not have dozens of main roster stars to rely on for a ratings pop.
