NXT Review – July 18 2018: “It doesn’t matter who wins this match…!”

Next week Tommaso Ciampa will challenge Aleister Black for the NXT Championship. It’s time for the title to change hands, in my view. And I haven’t seen the spoilers. Honest.

The Street Profits are back on the basketball court. This skit must have been filmed ages ago because they refer to The Mighty as ‘TM61’. Nothing much happens, this is just filler to give Ford and Dawkins some telly time.

EC3 continues his face turn by strutting around backstage answering questions and posing for selfies. He bumps into Kona Reeves and they compare jackets and tans. NOBODY has a better tan than The One Per Center. Not even the cast of Love Island. EC3 takes exception to Kona’s attitude, then vows to chew Reeves up, spit him out and FEED HIM TO HIS CATS. This may be the greatest threat ever made on a wrestling TV show. They’ll be having a match soon.

OH NO! Kassius is getting an easy night, for a change. I didn’t expect it to be quite as easy as this, though. Ohno escapes a waistlock and cold-cocks jobber Rick Ramirez with a roaring elbow. Then he pins him, almost apologetically. That lasted about 20 seconds.

The Undisputed Era do one of those backstage promos while their music plays in the background. I admit to barely paying attention to what they’re saying because I’m too busy listening to the theme tune. They warn Ricochet not to mess with them, and that’s about it.
