NXT Taping SPOILERS: April – May 2018

Following on from NXT TakeOver: New Orleans this past Saturday, the latest batch of NXT tapings have been recorded and via WrestlingInc.com, we have the full spoilers from now up until May 9th.

Needless to say, if you don’t want to see the spoilers for the upcoming month of NXT, do not read any further.

Firstly, we’ll quickly touch on everything that went down on this past Wednesday’s edition, that was taped before NXT TakeOver: New Orleans at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana (in chronological order):

  • An opening highlight package of all the matches from NXT TakeOver: New Orleans
  • Kairi Sane defeated Lacey Evans
  • A load of footage of the matches at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans was shown, and also highlights of the NXT call-ups on this week’s Raw and SmackDown Live episodes. Raw introduced Ember Moon, No Way Jose, and the Authors of Pain, whereas the sole debutants on the blue brand were Peyton Royce and Billie Kay, now known as the IIconics
  • Heavy Machinery (Otis Dozovic and Tucker Night) vs. Tino Sabbatelli and Riddick Moss went to a no contest after the War Raiders (formerly known as War Machine in Ring of Honor) made their first appearance on NXT, as Hanson and Rowe (formerly Raymond Rowe) attacked both teams

The following set of tapings were recorded at Full Sail University in Florida, on April 11, 2018.

April 18th

  • Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae made their way to the ring for the first time since Gargano’s rehiring to the black and yellow brand following his win over Tommaso Ciampa at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans. The couple cut a babyface promo before they announced that Candice LeRae will face Zelina Vega later in the night
  • Ricochet defeated Fabian Aichner
  • The War Raiders defeated The Metro Brothers (Chris and JC)
  • Lars Sullivan defeated Killian Dain in a No Disqualifications match
  • Candice LeRae defeated Zelina Vega
  • Johnny Gargano challenged NXT Champion Aleister Black to a match for the next week, Black accepted

April 25th

  • The Undisputed ERA, including Roderick Strong, opened the show and bragged about their wins at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans
  • Adam Cole defeated Oney Lorcan to retain his NXT North American Championship following interference from Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong
  • Lorcan’s tag team partner Danny Burch ran down to the ring to save Lorcan, but was the recipient of a beat-down himself
  • Heavy Machinery defeated Tino Sabbatelli and Riddick Moss after Sabbatelli walked out on Moss. Heavy Machinery then challenged the War Raiders to a match
  • Kairi Sane defeated Shazza McKenzie (of Shine Wrestling). Lacey Evans came to the ring to offer Kairi Sane an apology for comments she made after their match two weeks prior. Sane accepted a handshake, but Lacey turned around and clocked the ‘Pirate Princess’ with the microphone
  • TM61 (Nick Miller and Shane Thorne) defeated the Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) with feet on the bottom rope. Those pesky little Aussies.
  • WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne defeated Roderick Strong in a non-title match. The other members of the Undisputed ERA interfered to try and assist Strong, but Burch and Lorcan made the save.

May 2nd

  • Kona Reeves defeated Patrick Scott (a ‘local talent’)
  • Ricochet cut a promo in the ring, but Velveteen Dream interrupted. The two conversed for a few minutes, culminating with Dream saying Ricochet isn’t good enough
  • EC3 defeated Raul Mendoza
  • Dakota Kai defeated Vanessa Borne. Following the match, NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler attacked Vanessa Borne, seemingly in an attempt to intimidate Kai
  • Johnny Gargano made his entrance for a match with NXT Champion Aleister Black, but was attacked by Tomasso Ciampa and the match doesn’t go ahead. Gargano was carried out on a stretcher

May 9th

  • Bianca Belair defeated Candice LeRae
  • The War Raiders defeated Heavy Machinery
  • NXT Champion Aleister Black came to the ring to talk about Johnny Gargano. He is interrupted by SAnitY and Eric Young challenges him to a match
  • Aleister Black defeated Eric Young in a non-title match. Black then laid out both Killian Dain and Alexander Wolfe to stand tall

WrestlingInc.com:

“Note: A few of the matches for 4/25, 5/2 and 5/9 are out of order but listed based on how our correspondent believes they will air.”
