A former WWE star has revealed that she, along with other WWE upstarts, were once called into the Performance Center to work a private wrestling show for potential US Presidential Candidate Ron DeSantis.
Steph De Lander (formerly Persia Pirotta in WWE) shared a clip on TikTok of an interview with Vice Australia, in which she reflected on the bizarre moment.
The 26-year-old revealed the reasoning behind it being the Florida governor “wanted to have a wrestling show for his kids.”
De Lander, who was released from WWE in April 2022, revealed that she and other talents were brought in on a Saturday morning especially for the intimate show, with only DeSantis and his family sitting in the front row.
DeSantis did deem WWE ‘essential business’ during the COVID-19 pandemic, crucially allowing the company to producing weekly TV throughout the uncertain period.
Since her WWE release, De Lander has carved out significant success, forming a partnership on the indies with fellow former WWE star Matt Cardona (Zack Ryder).
