Randy Orton “Open” To Talks With AEW

Randy Orton, a WWE lifer since he started on television with the promotion in 2002, is reportedly open to speaking with upstart promotion All Elite Wrestling when his contract expires.

According to Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful, Orton was the name hinted at by WrestleVotes in yesterday’s tweet about a top WWE star receiving an “outstanding” offer from AEW:

Sapp says that contrary to reports Orton is not currently in talks with the promotion, nor has any offer been made at this stage, but Orton has been heard casually saying he is open to the possibility of talking with them.

Sapp said the following:

“They [WrestleVotes] did not reveal who the name is, I know the name. Before I get into this, I am not saying this person was offered an AEW deal. I’m not saying if that happened, because I don’t know if that happened. In fact, I asked people in AEW about this, and I was told [by AEW] ‘we are not tampering. We are not doing that.

Our approach is fresh and independent is the goal for the majority of our recruitment. What you are likely seeing is a particular agent trying to leverage more money out of WWE by possibly planting s*** like this.”

Orton, who was a former teammate of Cody in the group Legacy several years ago, was believed to have signed a 10-year deal with WWE in early 2010, meaning if that were true he would not be able to move for at least another year.

For what it’s worth, WrestleVotes seemingly confirmed that Orton was the name they were referring to by posting the following on Twitter:
