Real Reason WWE Dropped Maria Kanellis Pregnancy Storyline

Earlier this year on WWE TV, Maria Kanellis announced that she was pregnant with her second child. However, she revealed that her husband Mike was not “man enough” to father the baby.

Over the next few weeks, Maria said that the father of her baby was Ricochet and then Rusev. However, the storyline has now thankfully been dropped.

Many people speculated that the storyline had been dropped due to the fact that Mike had requested his release from WWE on Twitter.

However, it is now being reported that the real reason the storyline was dropped is because of Lana, Rusev and Bobby Lashley.

Dave Meltzer had the following to say about why the laughable storyline was dropped in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter:

“They dropped his storyline and instead moved a different version but moved it to a higher profile with Rusev and Lana.”

Although the storyline might not have been well-received by fans on Twitter, it still did rather well for WWE in terms of YouTube views and social media numbers.

Regardless of why the storyline was dropped, we should take solace in the fact that Mike Kanellis is no longer being humiliated on a weekly basis on Raw.
