Real Reason For WWE Star’s Ring Name Revealed WWE

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Piper Niven has revealed the origin of her ring name in response to a recent question from a fan.

Niven currently holds the tag team championship with Chelsea Green after deciding that she was Green’s new partner on the August 14 episode of WWE Raw.

This came after Green’s tag team partner Sonya Deville had suffered a torn ACL.

Niven made her WWE debut in the 2017 Mae Young Classic and would change her independent wrestling ring name of Viper.

She was asked her about last name choice on Twitter and would reply with:

“It’s my Dad’s (stepdad but he raised me so I consider him my real dad) name, it’s usually passed down through the family as a middle name so I decided to take it on as my stage name to keep it going.

“It’s a very old name that means little saint 😇”

Niven officially signed with WWE in 2019 and would be featured on NXT UK making her main roster debut in June 2021 as Doudrop.

Doudrop would take a leave of absence from WWE due to a COVID-related health scare with her last match being on NXT teaming with Nikki Cross (then Nikki ASH) against Toxic Attraction’s Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne in September 2022.

She would return at the January 2023 Royal Rumble, dropping the Doudrop name and going back to Piper Niven.

She and Chelsea Green most recently retained their titles over NXT’s Jacy Jayne and Thea Hail.
