Another Reason Matt Riddle Had Heat With WWE Management Revealed WWE

An update has emerged on backstage heat surrounding Matt Riddle prior to his WWE departure, with a segment that got Riddle heat reportedly revealed.

Riddle was one of a number of stars who were released from their WWE contracts earlier this month.

Following Riddle’s departure, Fightful Select reported that a WWE higher-up said that Riddle had “burned through too many chances” during his time in the company.

Per Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there was heat between Riddle and WWE management following a WWE TV interview, in which Riddle went off script to talk about Randy Orton.

Meltzer noted:

“Riddle also had heat with management at one point right after that for going off the script and putting over Orton on a live television interview when talking about how much pain Orton was in during the latter stages of their team and before the injury angle was shot.

“While praised for the promo going behind the scenes and being real, it was not what was scripted for him.”

Orton has been off TV since he and Riddle dropped the Raw Tag Team Championship to The Usos in May 2022.

The wrestling veteran has been dealing with a serious back injury since then, but has recently fuelled speculation that he’s preparing for a WWE return after visiting the Performance Center.

The Viper was recently spotted in public amid rumors about his WWE return, which you can read more about right here.
